History
Nossa Senhora da Graça is one of the names given to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Devotion to Nossa Senhora da Graça on Monte Farinha, in Mondim de Basto, Portugal, began in the 14th century, when a devotee offered a stone image of Our Lady, an image that is still in the Sanctuary today. There are several legends associated with Nossa Senhora da Graça, including the legends of Moura Encantada, dos Pescadores, Cinínia, and Pedra Alta. The Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora da Graça was inaugurated in 1775. In addition to the church, the Sanctuary also has three chapels, built in the 19th and 20th centuries, dedicated to the Annunciation, the Visitation, and the Nativity. Every year, in September, thousands of pilgrims travel to the Sanctuary to pay homage to Nossa Senhora da Graça.

Returns
