History
Our Lady of Macarena is venerated at dawn on Good Friday in Seville and is considered one of the greatest Marian devotions in the world. The original statue of Our Lady of Macarena is a work by an unknown author, made in the 17th century. The statue of Our Lady of Macarena is in the Basilica of Macarena in the neighborhood of San Gil, in the city of Seville, Spain. The Virgin was canonically crowned in 1964.
