History
Agnes was born into a noble family in Rome, Italy, in 291, at a time when Emperor Diocletian ruthlessly persecuted Christians. Inês was a beautiful young woman, coveted by many men, but her greatest desire was to consecrate her purity and her life to God. One of the men whose marriage proposal Inês refused denounced her to the authorities as being a Christian. Inês was arrested and subjected to many martyrdoms, but she never denied her faith in God, ending up being killed when she was only 12 years old. Legend has it that, eight days after her death, Inês appeared bright and happy to her parents, with a white lamb in her arms. Her feast day is January 21st.

Returns
