Santo Cristo dos Milagres is an image that represents the “Ecce Homo”. “Ecce Homo” means “Behold the Man”, which is what Pilate said to the crowd when he presented Jesus Christ scourged, bound and wearing a crown of thorns. The image of Senhor Santo Cristo dos Milagres is in the Convent of Nossa Senhora da Esperança, on the island of São Miguel, in the Azores and is visited every year by thousands of faithful.
