Sharon Nowlan grew up drawing, painting and creating a wide range of artistic material inspired by the natural beauty of Nova Scotia.
But it wasn't until she became a mother that the natural landscapes of Nova Scotia gained her attention and became the inspiration for her work. It all started with a trip to the beach with her 3-year-old son. After picking up a pocket full of washed-up pebbles, she deftly arranged them to create a small painting depicting a grandmother and child. The notion that a collection of small, cold things could convey such warm emotions touched Sharon's attention. Over the years, Sharon's designs have evolved to include other natural objects including shells, twigs, driftwood and pieces of sea glass...but it all started with a set of rocks.
The Sharon Nowlan Collection transforms a mix of stones and other materials into inspiring designs such as angels and friends true to sentiments such as "Celebrate Life" and "Follow Your Heart" works.
These handcrafted reproductions capture the joy and emotional experience of relationships, depicting couples, families, friends and individuals.
