History
Nossa Senhora do Castelo is the patron saint of the village of Aljustrel, in Portugal, and is one of the names given to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The Chapel was built during the reign of King Sancho II by King Paio Peres Correia, after the conquest of the Castle. Every year, in September, thousands of faithful gather in the village of Aljustrel, to pay homage to Our Lady and to participate in the festivities dedicated to her.
