History
Santa Ana was the mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary and grandmother of Jesus Christ. Santa Ana and her husband São Joaquim were very sad for not having children. Santa Ana prayed to God and promised that if He gave her a child, she would place the child in His service. God heard their prayers and a girl was born who they named Maria. Santa Ana taught Maria to love God from the bottom of her heart. Saint Anne has been honored as the mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary since the early days of the Church and is much loved by mothers and grandmothers all over the world! Santa Ana is the patron saint of grandmothers, mothers and children, and her feast day is July 26th.
