History
Francis Xavier was born in 1506 in Navarre, Spain.
When he was 19, he went to study in Paris, where he met Ignatius of Loyola, with whom he became a great friend, and with whom he founded the Society of Jesus. Later, he was ordained a priest and, at the request of the king of Portugal D. João III, he was sent as a missionary to the East.
Francis Xavier traveled to many countries such as Mozambique, Indonesia, India and Japan, and dedicated his life to helping the poorest and sickest people, spreading the word of Jesus, and converting thousands of people to Christianity. He was considered the "Apostle of the East".
Francis Xavier was beatified by Pope Paul V in 1619 and canonized in 1622 by Pope Gregory XV. Her feast day is December 3rd.
