History
Matthew was a tax collector in Capernaum, Palestine, and had a life of power and wealth. One day, while working, Jesus called him to be his follower. Without hesitation, Matthew left everything he had and followed Jesus. He went on to live in poverty and preach His word throughout Judea, Persia and Ethiopia. Saint Matthew was one of the twelve apostles. He wrote the first Gospel in which he relates a part of the life of Jesus as well as His teachings. Saint Matthew is symbolized as an angel and his feast day is September 21st. How can we follow Jesus and spread His word?
