History
Nicholas was born around the year 260, in Patara, Asia Minor (present-day Turkey), at a time when Emperor Diocletian had Christians persecuted and killed. Nicholas was arrested, but he never renounced Christianity and always kept his faith in God. Nicolau is known for dedicating his life to the poorest people, to children and to charity, and there are many miracles attributed to him, most notably the fact that he raised three children from the dead. Nicholas was canonized by the Catholic Church, and was later associated with the figure of Santa Claus. Nicholas is the patron saint of Russia, Greece and Norway, and patron of the cities of Amsterdam and Moscow. Her feast day is December 6th. How can we be more generous and give to those in need?
